I bought this for my 8 yr. old nephew for Christmas. We had a good time with it all Christmas Eve. Your tongue looks oh so gross on it. Just what an 8 yr. old boy likes!

This is a great learning tool to teach your kids! IT was easy to install and shows nice pictures. This is not a "microscope" but it provides nice close up pictures of anything your kids can imagine.

I wish I had control of the LEDs to turn them off. Other than that it takes some great pictures.

The microscope is a solid, well built, piece of equipment. The optics are good and the zoom and the focus operate smoothly. I am very pleased with the purchase.

THe eyeclopes is awsome. if a were to recamend a fun object i would say this is on the top of my list. it has problums with seeing brigt to wight colors. so if you are looking for somthing your kid or you would enjoy i say this i good.

I first purchased a "Cyclops-Bionic-Eye" for around $25. That was a great little microscope. Then I found this one with the onboard video screen and USB flash drive for storing screen captures. All I can say is "Fabulous!!"

This toy seems like a great idea, basically an electronic microscope. However, it is difficult to focus and the illuminating light is so dim that it is unusable. We just could not see much on the display. If the LED illumination could be increased, it may work acceptably, but there is no control for that. If you were in a completely dark room, you might be able to see the magnified image. Anyway, we didn't use it. It was a waste of money.

My niece opened it up and was immediately filled with curiosity. Batteries were inserted and things took off from there. The whole family got involved and we were having a great time. We hooked it up to the television and everyone had a great view of all the fantastic things we were discovering. Everyone had to have a turn at holding the Bionicam on their skin. The skin shots seemed to be the most fascinating. My niece was thrilled, and I couldn't have been happier watching her have fun with it. Fun for the whole family!

This device is not really useable in its prsent design. The magnification specs looks good but the 200x and 400x are completly unuseable. The 100x is sometimes useable. They should have gone with something like 25x, 50x and 100x with better focusing mechanixm. Would not recommend it in current configuration.

Bought this for my 6 yr old daughter. She loves it. It is easily to hook up to your tv. One of the first things she looked at was our carpet. Very interesting to see how much dirt is left behind after you vaccum. (hahaha) I highly recommend the toy.

This toy will magnify anything. My daughter hooks it up to the TV and boy oh boy do I have to stand far away, some of the images can be scary. Its a great toy to teach kids about cleanliness.

I should have listened to the poor customer reviews. It was not easy to work (hard to get the image to come up on the screen, hard to focus). It seemed like you had to have the device right on top of the thing you wanted to see (in other words, you could not point it at something and easily get the image to come up on the TV). It was not very forgiving in that respect and took a lot of patience to get any image on the screen and once you did, it was pretty anti-climactic. I was really disappointed at the difficulty of use and certainly could not expect my 6-yr-old nephew to find this thing fun and entertaining. We played with it for about 15 minutes on Christmas day and I decided it was a dud and am returning it. My nephews have not even noticed that they don't have it.

We did not have any luck with this product. We could not see the images, and what could be seen was dull. I sent it back. My daughter has more fun with an old-fashioned field microscope.

This was a cool gift. Its just a little harder to focus and see what your aiming at. I'm sure it'll get easier with practice. Great educational tool and you'd be suprised what you can see! Overall, great toy!

HIGHLY recommended for all ages. My daughter's science teacher has borrowed it twice. Rare to find something entertaining over a long time frame AND educational.

This is a darling item and works as advertised. But I hadn't realized that you need to put the handheld "eye" directly on top of the item you wished to magnify, so it won't suit my purposes and I'll return the item. But it is fun and a clever toy.

Very fun, very durable (it's been dropped numerous times onto hardwood floors), and quite entertaining for all ages!!! My kids sometimes catch me using it without them!! :o)

My kids love this little microscope to look at bugs and stuff. Its cheap, light, battery included and inspires scientific interest. Wish I had one as a kid.

Got this based on the blurb on CoolTools. The 20-40x magnification lets you see a surprising amount of detail; more useful and interesting than I expected. LED is well-positioned, plenty bright enough, and nicer white color than the old incandescents that cheap microscopes were always saddled with. Cheap, unfussy, and very easy to use; enough so that my five-year-old has used it to examine every flat surface and textile in the house, plus hair, paper, her own fingerprints...it's been a stream of "Oh! That's amazing! Look at that!" No idea on battery life; the momentary light switch (you have to hold it on) is a little frustrating when you're trying to focus on something tricky, but on the other hand it won't be left on either. Oh! Make sure to look at a "white" pixel on your LCD or iPhone. Highly recommended. If this breaks, we'll buy another.

For the price, this thing is great. I'm not super worried about damaging it, it's light, and the LED puts enough light on the subject to see things well.

I bought this pocket microscope for viewing gold ore samples in the field and general viewing of small objects. It works great. It is a bit awkward to handle as the light needs to be held on continuously while viewing and adjusting the focus, but this prevents prematurely killing the batteries by forgetting and leaving the light on. I can't say this is not a good feature as I have killed the batteries on my other one and they run as much as $5 each. Cheaper hearing aid batteries may work in place of the more expensive electronics batteries. They did on my other one. They will need to be the same physical size. The LED illumination is important to me as the battery life is much longer than with conventional lights.

Does what it is supposed to do, magnify. Little depth of field so hard to use to see details on a large 3-d item (one that does not lie flat).

This little microscope so very much out performs its price tag. We're completely happy with it. The software installed on Vista with no effort, the scope itself works beautifully. Captured images are excellent. While every aspect could use a little tweaking, it's a ridiculous bargain as is and we've already (1st day) spent hours using it. Five Stars. If we had spent five times as much, we would only knock off one star for value. BTW: amazon's price is the best we found.

I am waiting to use this product till Christmas it is a present for my 5 year old. She loves microscopes and hopefully she can do this by herself! :O) once she gets into the microscope activity she can play for hours. :O) I am hoping it will make her more excited about science! We will see! UPDATE!!! AWESOME!!!! For my 5 year old this product is awesome!!! She pretends she is on CSI NCIS or Bones or something in the like she can pretend she is doing some feild work then reports to me on the "computer" image... too cute... this has peaked her interest in the feild of science, and biology. She "hunts" for anything that can be magnified, she even took a picture of her tounge. Its so cool... I feel that if you have anyone that is interested in microscopes this product is perfect! you dont have to "focus" the image, it does it for you automaticly.

This little machine is amazing. Only wish that zoom was more clear, but it sure beats the heck out of the regular scopes. Not hard to use and everyone gets to be amazed at once. No more missing out on things. Pretty much plug and play. Very nice price and fast shipping.

This microscope works in Linux by installing the "microdia" webcam drivers. It has the 0c45:6270 webcam chipset. Just search Google Groups for microdia and follow the instructions there.

I tried for about an hour to get this to work. Called the help number and loaded new drivers. I was unable to capture a still image from the button on top or by using the mouse. I returned the item. I was using a computer with windows XP

I'm sure the positive reviews here are from Windows or pre-Snow Leopard Mac users. The product description clearly states support for Mac OS X 10.4 or later. This is either deliberately misstated or an oversight. Regardless, the product is junk for any user running Snow Leopard. The included software/drivers fail to install without any cogent error code. Visiting the manufacturer web site, I discovered they publish separate software/drivers for OS X 10.6.x, but they are listed as "Beta". "Beta" is an overstatement - this software is pure junk, and is an Alpha release _at best_. Bottom line: it doesn't work. Since this wasn't shipped from Amazon, I can only hope the return process is less than an ordeal.

Installation of the software was straight forward, except that only one of my 6 USB ports recognised the Microscope. Whilst the build quality looks good the image was poor. Whilst I have never had a digital microscope before, I understand that the image clarity will be poorer at higher magifications and under poor lighting. With this in mind I still feel that the image I am obtaining is totally unacceptable. Whilst I can view the slides, the image is blurred by two types of image noise - fixed and random. It results in detail being obscured and use of the microscope can be described as frustrating at best due to a poor camera. Nothing worse than knowing how good an image should look but not being able to see any detail! Better off with a cheap hand held lens in my opinion. I have contacted Carson who responded in good time (2 Days) to say the images I sent them were of the expected quality and that they do not consider the microscope to be faulty. My next question is how they can have a nerve to sell it. I don't believe that anyone who has used this digital microscope would buy one so I would advise all to avoid it. I have attached photos of the slides provided with the microscope so that you can relate to the image quality I am seeing and make an informed decision.

I bought this primarily to examine printed circuit boards, which it does great. Just what I needed and at a very good price. Built-in LEDs are nice.

As an avid coin & stamp collector I was looking for a product to help me view fine details of my collection. I was also interested in sharing my collection with others. The zPix from Carson fit the bill. With this digital microscope I have been able to see details of my coins & stamps that I am unable to see with the naked eye. This is a neat little item that I know I will get a lot of use out of. Set up was a breeze and I've been able to save and share images with my fellow collectors. The only negative aspect of the product is that you can't see the whole coin or stamp at once because of the high powered magnification. I didn't really mind because the details blew me away. A great buy for the price...
